Journey to Self Love through a lens.
Hey guys! I haven't written a blog in a while, and even then I am very very new.
That being said, I give everything my best shot so here I go! Stay with me, I am in this for the long haul!
This beach session was absolutely magical. What started out as a one on one sunset shoot with a repeat client, to having two other ladies join us. One of them is a good friend of mine, but I hadn't met the other lady yet, Miss T. I am grateful for the support I have from my friends, who are always encouraging me, as well as there friends to step out of their comfort zones. So, fast forward to the beach. Miss M and I, my original client for the night get right into it. We're both VERY comfortable with each other right off the bat, as our relationship has grown much more than just a client. Miss M was killing it right off the hop, plus we had a freaking gorgeous sunset to boot.
As I am bouncing around getting the perfect shots, I can hear Miss T commenting on how well my client was doing, how great she looked, and how confident she must be to do this type of shoot. As a boudoir photographer, that is probably the number one thing I hear. Every single woman believes there's no way she could be and feel like all of the above. But I have a secret... you absolutely CAN.
A big misconception about this type of gig is that my job is to just make you look sexy. Sure, you are going to look freaking fire! But that is not my main goal... I want you to FEEL sexy. I want to fall in love with yourself again. So the most important part of my job for me, is you walking away with a new found confidence. Maybe finding the old you, that you've missed so much. Or a whole new, and improved you! Which ever way you want to feel - I am here to show you how!
Now back to Miss T. She has been going through some big life changes, and has struggled to find herself the last little while. Like all women, she struggles with body image and so many insecurities. As I finished up the shoot with Miss M, I realized we only had a little bit of light left. I turned and looked at Miss T and asked if she wanted to try a couple poses, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the look on her face was terrified. Although she had been watching Miss M and I shoot, she had all the negative thoughts swirling through her head. To my surprise, she looked at me and said LET'S DO THIS!
I showed her the main pose I wanted to start with, got her dress a little wet to add a little texture to the photos, and coached her the entire way through. With only five minutes left of light, Miss T gave me her complete trust. It's an honor when someone is able to be so vulnerable and raw with you as a person and a photographer, and allow you to capture your vision. This session gives me all the storytelling feels to it.. that you can just feel. I wanted to capture the raw and emotional side of this client, without forgetting the details. My favorite part is you can crop every picture a little different, to perceive a different emotion... Have I told you I love what I do?!
A woman's journey of self love is not an easy one, but I am so grateful to be a bridge to get there!
Enjoy this gorgeous women's first ever Self Love Session.
